“What are you doing?” 👨‍🔧

Tracking down the cause of an overheating issue on this Porsche. 🌡️

After inspection, the fault came down to a failing water pump, a critical component in keeping the engine running at the correct temperature.

It’s a reminder that overheating is never something to ignore, especially on performance vehicles where cooling systems play such an important role.

Porsche Insight: Common water cooled 911 issues⚠️

Not all issues announce themselves straight away ⚠️

On water-cooled 911s, we often see:

- Coolant leaks developing slowly over time 🌡️
- Water pumps and thermostats wearing out without obvious warning ⚙️
- Radiators collecting debris, affecting cooling efficiency 🍃
- Expansion tanks becoming brittle and prone to cracking 🧩

The challenge?

Most of these build up gradually and by the time you notice it, the system is already under strain.
