On Sunday we took a drive out to the Grizzlies Rugby Club in Daspoort to check out the FU Cancer event hosted by our mates from SFCP and Otaku Kulture. After a carwash in the area, we arrived at the rugby club, which is awesome by the way, to find a nice collection of cars parked on the field. You could pay a smaller entry fee and park in the normal parking spots, or you could pay a little more to have a spot on the field (which is what we did) and then if you paid up a little more over that you could park on the infield and would also have an entry into the Show & Shine part of the event.
The cars that came out to support were great and covered loads of different marques and modding styles, from bagged VWs to well-sorted V8s to classics as well as one of the most insane builds we've seen to date - a twin-turbocharged V8 trike. Yup, swears. Check the pics. It was also cool to see a few clubs support the event, the Swift Speed Club of SA was spotted with some sweet little Japanese hatchbacks. The event, as usual, was open to all makes, models and marques because that just makes for a better time, and ensures being able to pull in a decent amount of money to hand over to a cancer-related charity after the event.
It's always great seeing these guys, they do a great job of keeping spirits high and the crowds entertained, and they always do it for a good cause. We'll bring you more of their events as and when they happen and we can attend. Until then, take a look at the pics.
