Tour de Bronx 500 Rally review

Last weekend saw the team take on the 120kms of stages that the Tour de Bronx Rally offered in Bronkhorstspruit.

Robert Sartain and Chris Du Plessis in their VW Mk3 had probally the best event to date. Despite the car stripping 5th gear very early into the Rally Rob won all stages but one in Group C which is a huge achievement. The car had recently acquired a decent set of Proflex shocks that has most definitely changed the pace of this crew.
Rob and Chris won Group C comfortably. Weldone and may this win be the first of many to follow.

Fred Hawman and Craig Naude in yet another VW Golf 3 had a flawless run.This only being Fred's second rally ever. The crew had an enjoyable untroubled day in seat.

Young gun Ryan Sartain and Tertius Du Preez in their VW Golf 1 finished 4th in Group D. Despite getting stuck in 1 stage the crew had it smooth sailing for most of the event.

Jayson Gr and Pierre Jordaan in their VW Golf 1 had a strong run at this event.This also being his second event ever Jayson is starting to find his groove. Unfortunately in the second to last stage the gearbox broke retiring them from the event. We learn and grow stronger!!!

Myself and Danie Rossouw had an impeccable day in the car. I have not driven a rally car in anger since last year October. Managed to get into bed at 2h45 on Saturday morning only to leave at 04h00 to the Rally.
Nevertheless a Bioplus and a Redbull later and I was brand new again. We had entered Grp A which is a 4wd turbo class with our 2wd Toyota Run-x. We managed to finish 2nd Overall and so to win Group A.

A huge shoutout to my service crew for the late nights getting the cars prepared.

The Team had a good run this past weekend at the Ligbron Ermelo Rally

Bernard and Minette Johnstone showed very good pace throughout the long 2 day event finishing 2nd Overall.
Rob Sartain and Mari Ducasse showed strong form on Friday..taking to stage wins in their Class however this would not last long when their VW Golf 3 broke yet another driveshaft.
The decision was made and the service crew returned back to the shop in Pretoria very late Friday night and collected young Ryan Sartain's trust VW Golf A5 that got the pairing to end of the event.

Jayson and I had an absolute blast in the car...night stages being my favorite were most definitely very enjoyable Friday.
Saturday we had an almost oopsie when we challenged the wrong jump landing very hard on the nose that in turn broke the rear subframe.

We nursed the car to the end to finish 3rd Overall behind to monster offroad cars.

Our favourite event is up next...The All Tar Grandprix
