Peter's Driving School

Peter's Driving School Specialist Driving Tuition The National School Driver Education Program Started in 1983 of which Reuben was on the planning committee.

Peter’s Driver Training and Education Driving School started off when Reuben Coskey a former traffic officer and licensing examiner recognized the need for driver training and education in the Pretoria area. By 1986 Reuben had completed he’s 11th course in advanced driving held at the traffic department of city council of Pretoria. It was on the 1st day in October 1992 that Reuben completed a driv

er trainer instructor’s course in the school driver education program. Peter Coskey was called in and trained by Reuben in the national road traffic act and as a driver trainer instructor. Peter was examined by the Gauteng Provincial Administration and successfully passed and was issued his first Instructor’s certificate on the 3rd day of May 2001 for light motor vehicles. Peter then went further and passed the instructors course for Heavy motor vehicles on the 6th day of June 2001 and motorcycles on the 19th day of December 2001. Peter has also now passed and has instructor certification of the extra heavy articulated motor vehicles. Peter leads the driver training and education driving school based in Silverton. The driving school covers the greater Pretoria area. All learner licence holders for code B are picked up and dropped off. Peter’s Driving School is a member of the Human Sciences Research Council with documentation to offer learner licence classes. It however has become necessary to equip ourselves as the Learners licence testing has moved into an electronic testing phase. We pride ourselves in that we belong to the South African Institute of Driving instructors who enforce strict measure of ethical behavior. Peter has successfully passed the assessor and moderators certification and completely downscaled the driving school and now only Peter and son Steven offer specialist driver training.

Aart, what a privilege it was to assist you with obtaining your EB drivers licence. You were always so enthusiastic, wanting to gain knowledge, all ways trying your best to apply what you were taught. You didn’t always get it right and I would say “Hey!” And you would just smile and try again 🙂 well done!

The South African National Roads Agency Ltd (SANRAL) would like to notify you of the temporary closure of the N1 highway for the er****on of a new Pedestrian Bridge at Erasmusrand/Waterkloof.

This work is being carried out to replace the previous structure that was damaged in January 2015 and demolished in May 2016.

The full road closure of the N1 is necessary for the er****on of the bridge and to provide safety to the public as well as for the construction staff. The work will be carried out in two phases during the following times:

Northbound: Saturday 13 April 18h00 to Sunday 14 April 04h00; and
Southbound: Sunday 14 April 18h00 to Monday 15 April 04h00.
The public will be requested to avoid the route during these times. However, should travellers wish to use the route, traffic will be diverted from the N1/Rigel Avenue Interchange and the N1/R21 Flying Saucer Interchange via Solomon Mahlangu Drive and Rigel Avenue. Temporary direction signage will be erected along the detour routes

Renewing your South African driver’s licence: How to book online for learners, drivers or...when the dreaded time comes to renew your driver’s licence, it usually means standing for hours in a queue at the local licencing department, but this isn’t so much the case in recent times as discovered when going to renew in Gauteng at the end of 2018.

The licencing department will simply refuse to serve you if you get to the front of the line after waiting for hours. Instead, an appointment is needed.

This appointment can only be scheduled in one way: online. While that may sound terrible for some without reliable internet access, the process of making a booking is relatively painless but does have its share of problems we’ll discuss below.

To make a booking simply head on over to the governmental website online.natis.gov.za.

You’ll see four purple buttons for the initial driver’s licence test, a learner’s licence test, professional driving permit (PrDP) renewal and the one we’re interested in – driver’s licence renewal which is labelled as “BOOK NOW FOR DL CARD RENEWAL”.

From here you will be taken to a page where you need to fill in your particulars: what kind of identity document you have, your ID number, surname and initials. You will also need to fill in the Captcha “I’m not a robot” test.
Click “Next” and you will receive a warning about needing to bring an eye test from an optometrist. You can ignore this for now as the licencing department can perform this test on site when you visit, but we will explain this in the future with a full guide to renewing your licence. Simply click on “Dismiss” when this message appears.
On the next page you will need to fill out your contact details before going to the next page by again clicking on “Next”.
Finally you will land on a page where you can choose your province and the testing / licencing department you would like to visit. This is where some people may be stuck as, at certain times, there are absolutely no appointment slots available, or the slots are only open at departments which are hours away.
Here your only choices are to try the process again a few hours or a few days and hope that a spot becomes available. Alternatively you will have to select one which is out of the way, which is what we had to do. Driving 90 minutes to renew a licence isn’t ideal, but it’s sometimes necessary and it’s made up a bit by the fact that you won’t need to stand in line as long as you would do normally.
Once you’ve selected a department, date and time (on the next page) you may click on the purple “Make Booking” button. You should then be taken to a page that will allow you to download a copy of the form you need to submit when you arrive at the department, and a confirmation of the booking.
You can now head on over to the allocated licencing department and go through the process of having your licence renewed. We will have a full guide available for that process shortly.
Please note that the details on this page are correct at the time of writing, but may be different in the future or if you live in a different province. This is how it works for us here in Gauteng, but that doesn’t mean it will work for you elsewhere.
