Selftrack Vehicle & Personal Tracking Selftrack is a Self-Managed Vehicle, Asset and Personal Tracking Company

Selftrack was established in 2007 in order to incorporate the latest GSM/GPS tracking technology that would enable a user to self-manage, self-configure , self-monitor and self-TRACK any vehicle or fleet, person or asset tracker, mainly to increase productivity and efficiency, but also to provide peace of mind, improved security and of course stolen vehicle recovery to assist the insurance industry! Although the tracking industry was already well-established, Selftrack brought about unique self-management features allowing users to monitor their tracking devices themselves in real-time, from any Internet connected computer, laptop, iPad or smartphone. In addition, users can view historic trips made, draw reports, control who receives alerts in respect of panic, speeding, moving, geo-fencing, battery tampering and much more.

When a vehicle is stolen, visibility becomes time sensitive.

The process starts with identifying that something is wrong, confirming the vehicles position and getting usable information to the people responding.

The earlier that happens, the sooner a recovery effort can begin.

This is where real-time positioning, alerts and reliable tracking infrastructure matter most.

Selftrack has achieved a 100% vehicle recovery rate, but the technology behind recovery is ultimately about something simple: knowing where to look when every minute counts.

You should not have to watch every vehicle on a map all day to know when something needs your attention.

That is where geofencing comes in.

A geofence creates a virtual boundary around a location or area. When a vehicle enters or leaves that boundary, your team can be alerted.

That could mean knowing when a vehicle leaves a depot, enters a restricted area or moves somewhere it should not be during certain hours.

The value is not simply knowing where the vehicle went afterwards.

It is giving your team an earlier opportunity to respond.

Knowing where a vehicle was is useful.

Knowing where it is now is what helps an operations team make a decision.

Current positioning gives fleet managers a clearer picture of what is happening across the fleet, whether that means checking progress on a route, responding to an unexpected deviation or locating a vehicle when something is wrong.

It also gives features such as geofencing and movement alerts something reliable to work from.

Fleet visibility starts with knowing what is happening on the road without having to call around for an answer.

Every fleet has its own challenges, but the need for reliable visibility, safer operations and better decision-making remains the same.

Whether you're managing a handful of vehicles or an entire fleet, having the right information at the right time can make a real difference to your daily operations.

Selftrack has been working with South African fleets since 2007, helping businesses stay connected to the vehicles and people their operations depend on.
This page is where we connect with the people behind those operations, from fleet managers and business owners to logistics and safety professionals.

If you're responsible for keeping vehicles moving, managing drivers or improving fleet safety, we'd love to have you here.

Follow Selftrack and stay connected.

There's plenty more to come.

For mining and other high-risk industries, fleet visibility is more than knowing where your vehicles are. It is about having the information needed to protect your assets, support operational safety and make informed decisions when it matters.

When a vehicle moves outside an authorised area, goes missing or requires immediate attention, every minute counts. Real-time GPS tracking, geofencing and movement alerts help fleet managers identify irregularities, coordinate a response and maintain clearer operational records.

The value of fleet technology should be measured by what it helps your team achieve: better visibility, stronger accountability and more effective risk management across the operation.
Because when your vehicles are essential to your business, knowing what is happening on the ground should never depend on guesswork.

What is an AI fleet camera actually looking for?
Not everything.
SelfCAM is designed to identify driving risks such as signs of fatigue, distraction and unsafe behaviour that can increase the likelihood of an incident.
The goal is intervention, not observation for the sake of observation.
When possible, the driver receives an immediate in cab alert so they can correct the behaviour while it is happening.
That distinction matters when introducing safety technology to the people who will use it every day.
Save this post and share it with your drivers or safety team.

“Our current system works fine” is a perfectly reasonable reason to hesitate.
Changing fleet systems sounds disruptive, particularly when your team already has a process they know.

The better question is whether “fine” is costing your team time every day.
If dispatch still needs to call drivers for locations, managers still make decisions with incomplete information, or reporting still depends on manual work, there may be more room for improvement than it first appears.

A better system should reduce work, not create another layer of it.

Fleet managers, we want to know.

How often does someone on your team have to stop what they are doing to find out where a vehicle is?

Daily?
Weekly?
Rarely?
Never?

It sounds like a small interruption, but repeated across an operations team, those minutes add up quickly.

Comment down below and tell us what it looks like inside your fleet.
