This Jeep Grand Cherokee WKII 3.0 CRD came back to us with an overheating issue, and we wasted no time getting to the bottom of it!

🔍 DIAGNOSIS:

Our team carried out a cooling system pressure test, which quickly revealed the culprit – a leaking radiator! 💦

🇺🇸🔧 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 3.6 V6 – WHAT STARTED AS A COOLANT LEAK TURNED INTO A WHOLE LOT MORE! 🔥

Another Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6 V6 came through the doors at APEX JEEP WORKSHOP, and this one certainly had a story to tell! 😅

The customer contacted us with a serious concern – his Jeep was losing approximately 5 litres of coolant in just 5–10 km of driving! 😳💦

That's definitely not normal, and we got straight to work!

🔍 OUR INITIAL DIAGNOSIS:

After carrying out our inspections and tests, we confirmed:

✅ Leaking Water Pump

✅ Leaking Engine Oil Cooler – A very common problem on the 3.6 Pentastar V6 engines!

We attended to the issues and got the Jeep ready to head home.

BUT CLEARLY, THIS JEEP ENJOYED ITS STAY AT APEX A LITTLE TOO MUCH! 😂

Just as the customer drove away, the Jeep decided it wasn't quite ready to leave us yet! The engine warning light came on, and the customer returned.

After scanning the vehicle, we picked up a fault relating to the oil pump solenoid circuit.

So, the Jeep basically booked itself back in! 🤣

🔧 TIME TO DIG DEEPER!

We removed the engine to carry out the necessary repairs, and that's when things got interesting...

Unfortunately, we discovered some rather questionable workmanship from previous repairs. 👀

❌ A cylinder head Welsh plug was leaking badly.

❌ The sump sandwich plate gasket had not been fitted during previous repairs!

At Apex, we believe in doing things properly, not just covering up problems and hoping for the best.

With the engine already out, we took the opportunity to address everything we found.

🛠️ ADDITIONAL WORK COMPLETED:

✅ Repaired the leaking cylinder head Welsh plug

✅ Replaced the rear main crankshaft seal

✅ Fitted the missing sump sandwich plate gasket

✅ Removed the front timing cover

✅ Replaced the oil pump control solenoid

✅ Replaced both engine mountings
