If we can get a Yamaha Grizzly 350 quad through the doors and in to the workshop, and out in to the backyard for washing, we can get any bike in!

Cracking on with servicing and repair whilst still feeling out the space, and making changes and tweaks as we go. Already feeling 'at home' here and seeing a fantastic improvement. Great to see the usual faces and bikes popping in again!

10 days straight, working 20 hours each day, moving the shop certainly wasn't easy but it's finally done. I continue making various tweaks and changes each day, as we feel out the space and very quickly figure out what works and what doesn't. Some improvements to the unit are also under way, to bring the standard up to that which our clients have come to expect of Overland Motorrad & Cape Bike Tyre...

There's something very South African in the air today, it's just so exciting! Helmets. I don't feel riders give enough thought to what they're buying. No problem buying a R250k-R500k bike but then greatly limit the budget for a helmet. A helmet at under R5k new isn't going to have very good safety ratings, and those under R3k are likely to be far worse. This just doesn't make sense. How are you going to enjoy riding your bike if you end up with brain damage or even dead (minor or major MVA)? Don't skimp, get a quality helmet with the highest safety rating possible! Yes, it's flipping expensive, but you only have one brain.

Fantastic '06 BMW F800S for sale, in great condition. Mechanically sound with solid cosmetics and reasonably low mileage for a BMW of this year model. Belt drive, Akropovic exhaust, recently serviced, forks recently fully serviced too. Papers available and in order.

Left mirror arm does not fully tighten so it shifts at speed, OEM fasteners required to resolve.

These bikes are tricky to find these days, so jump at it!

Good firm suspension is critical for a safe ride. Faulty forks lead to sketchy handling, reduced traction, and other issues that make for a very dangerous ride. When fork oil starts leaking through damaged seals it ends up on the calipers and tires, there goes your braking and road grip. Corrosion, pitting on stantions, old or cheap fork oil, and damage are major contributors. If you spot any of these, if the forks aren't firm, feel too 'bouncy', or light rings of oil above the seal caps then get it checked out urgently!

Riding off-road comes with some challenges. Our friend and loyal client, Kersten Mosig, hit gravel pretty hard whilst on a trip, badly gouging and cracking his R1150GS tappet covers. But with the right tools, some J-B Weld high tensile strength epoxy, a whole lot of elbow grease, and a VHT High Performance Coatings engine enamel finish, the end result was fantastic...
