Before the showrooms, the workshop and the familiar Metro signs, there was 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝟰𝟭𝟴 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁, 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴.

It was 1976, and the business that would become the Metro Group began with sugar distribution.

No large fleet. No sprawling premises.

Just a working business, an opportunity — and the beginning of a journey that would eventually grow to include 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸𝘀, 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀.

Fifty years later, that first chapter still says something important about the way Metro has grown: steadily, practically, and with an eye on the road ahead.

After 50 years, Metro Group Managing Director Baboo Essa doesn’t measure the journey only in vehicles sold, businesses built or milestones reached.
