We are servicing and fixing oil leaks on this engine and found the forget-me-not plates on top of the cylinders.... we fixed up some heatexcangers and finally got the steering column buttoned up. Since we were gaswelding the heat exchanger I got Leandro to try gaswelding for himself. Despite it being his first time he got the tubes welded and quite solid. Trots op die jongman.

The Airshow had a huge variety of cars some very nice cars and something for every taste. The airshow and the commentators were top notch. We enjoyed every minute. Today we ate lunch at the Roadside Diner next to Loch Athlone. A very nice experience.

At the Bethlehem wings and wheels show Rolls- Royce Griffon engine v12 with contra rotating Propellors. I believe some Spitfires and the Shackleton used them.

Some cleaned tin and today we completed a major service on this 1967 1300 engine. This one was a genuine factory recon engine built around a dual relief case but stamped as a 67 engine. Basically the latest 1600 block and internals but detuned to 1300cc single port. This engine should be one of the most reliable engines ever.

Today was master cylinder day. I changed two one a brand new unit that failed during bleeding. I opened it up and found one of the rubber seals twisted. I installed it again and will probably try it again sometime. The other one was in my Sons beetle that has been standing for a long time. We dragged it from the storage last week and got it running after a bit of fiddling. We built this beetle back in 2012 as a project and he used it through University. Since he moved to the city It has been sitting in my back yard. At uni the car was never under cove and the paint has suffered. Storage has also not been very kind. But for a 14 year old resto job she doesnt present too badly.

Today we finalised the in car heater tubes and ordered some aluminium heater tubing to connect the front and rear. I welded up the rear butchered tubes and made up the rear body mounts using the previously made jig for positioning them accurately. The front mounts has been mocked up and I am happy with the initial fit.
