Buying your child's first quad? Start with the rider, not the engine.

The right quad is the one that fits. A few things to check:
Can they sit on it and touch the ground comfortably?
Can they reach the handlebars and pull the brake lever easily?
Is it light enough for them to manage?

Gear matters as much as the machine: helmet, gloves, boots, goggles and a chest protector. And an adult should always be close by for the first rides.

Starting smaller and building confidence beats starting too big. The Monster Puma 110 and Monster CRX110 are two of our youth quads in store at Nottingham Road.

Is your ATV riding rough, or sliding where it shouldn't? Check your tyre pressure first.

ATV tyres run at very low pressure compared to a car, so even a small difference changes how your quad grips, steers and rides. Too hard and it gets skittish on wet clay and rough on your back. Too soft and you risk the tyre rolling off the rim or damaging the sidewall.

A few things to do before the next run to the lands:
Check pressures cold, before you ride.
Use a proper low-pressure gauge. A car gauge is not accurate at ATV pressures.
Stay inside the range in your owner's manual or on the tyre sidewall, and keep left and right the same.
Carrying a full rack or towing? Check the manual for loaded pressures.
