Sometimes, the best way to understand a problem is to experience it firsthand.

This bakkie came to us with an unusual and concerning issue, after lifting off the accelerator, the vehicle would continue accelerating instead of immediately backing off.

After investigating the vehicle, we removed the aftermarket tuning box and additional wiring harness (also known as 'piggyback') that had been fitted.

We then returned the vehicle to a more direct approach by recalibrating the original ECU software, allowing us to make the required adjustments within the vehicle's factory management system rather than relying on an external signal-altering device.

Now the bakkie has better throttle behaviour, smoother drivability and a calibration specifically to the vehicle.

Every vehicle and modification should be assessed individually, and this post relates specifically to the issue we experienced with this particular bakkie.

Sometimes, the problem isn't the vehicle itself... it's what's been added between you and the ECU.

This Ranger came in strong, but there was still plenty more hiding in the calibration.

Through professional ECU recalibration, we adjusted the relevant engine parameters to deliver a noticeable improvement in power, torque and overall drivability.

POWER: 153.6 kW ➡️ 218.9 kW
TORQUE: 495 Nm ➡️ 617 Nm
