Chery has called its new bakkie the Grootman. Yes, "big man" in Afrikaans. It's coming to SA in Q1 2027 with 350kW, 800Nm and 100km of EV range, so the numbers sound like they might back up the name. Does the name suit it?

THE WAIT IS OVER.
You named it. We listened.

After thousands of voices, countless ideas and one big question, we can finally reveal the name of Chery’s new bakkie:

GROOTMAN

A name chosen with South Africa in mind, and a bakkie made for the road ahead.
The Grootman has arrived... The most South African Chinese Car.
