MARULENG AUTO CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF MOTORING IN HOEDSPRUIT
From a Nissan dealership to a multi-brand motoring destination, Maruleng Auto marks a decade of growth, relationships and service to the Lowveld community.
This October, Maruleng Auto celebrates ten years in business, marking a decade of serving motorists in Hoedspruit and communities across the wider Lowveld.
Established in October 2016, Maruleng Auto began its journey as a Nissan dealership. Over the past ten years, the business has steadily evolved in response to the changing needs of its customers and the growth of the region.
Mahindra was subsequently added to the dealership, expanding its offering particularly within the bakkie and utility vehicle market. This was followed by the addition of the GWM stable, including GWM and HAVAL, as well as the JAC brand offering, giving customers access to an increasingly diverse range of bakkies, SUVs and passenger vehicles under one roof.
Today, Maruleng Auto represents Nissan, Mahindra, JAC, GWM and HAVAL, alongside a wide selection of quality pre-owned vehicles, as well as servicing, parts and aftersales support.
For Dealer Principal Derik Scorer, the anniversary is as much about the people behind the business as it is about its growth.
“When we opened the doors ten years ago, our aim was to build a dealership that people in this community could trust. The brands and the business have grown considerably since then, but that principle hasn’t changed. We want people to know that when they walk through our doors, they are dealing with a local team that values the relationship long after the vehicle has been sold,” says Scorer.
Operating from its premises in Huilboerboom Street, Maruleng Auto has grown alongside Hoedspruit itself, serving customers ranging from local families and businesses to farmers, lodge operators and members of the surrounding tourism and conservation industries.
Scorer says understanding the environment in which its customers live and work has played an important role in the dealership’s development.
“Hoedspruit is a unique market. Our customers need everything from an everyday family vehicle to a hard-working bakkie or a capable 4x4. Expanding our brand offering over the years has allowed us to give people far more choice while still offering the personal service of a locally owned dealership.”
While the dealership has changed significantly since 2016, Scorer believes its greatest achievement is the number of customers who continue to return.
“Ten years gives you a chance to look back and realise how many relationships have been built along the way. We have customers who bought vehicles from us in our early years who still come back to us today. That loyalty means a great deal to us, and we certainly don’t take it for granted.”
As Maruleng Auto enters its second decade, the focus remains firmly on growing its offering while retaining the personal, community-based approach on which the business was built.
Maruleng Auto while at the heart is a lowveld oriented business, the dealership also operates with a sister dealership in Gauteng, so customers are covered from a service and customer relations perspective from the city to the bush.
