The best part of events like the Karkloof Trail Festival is seeing how many people quietly step in behind the scenes to make moments possible for kids who otherwise may never get the opportunity to ride.
Our local cycling community is pretty special. Big thanks to Taryn Scholtz, Nick van der Watt, Jess Stubbs and Hein Odendaal - there were so many people helping in small ways to get these youngsters onto bikes and onto the trails.
Yarrow Intermediate School can be proud of Menzi Ndlovu coming 8th and Alwande Mtambo 14th in the 10km race.
Thank you Karkloof Country Club and the Karkloof Trail Festival team for creating an event that gives young riders a chance to experience the excitement, nerves and pure joy that comes with race day.
Callan’s Bike Tech will always be happy to help where we can, and we’d love to see even more of this kind of community support around cycling in KZN. A serviced bike, a spare helmet, a lift to an event, a few encouraging words at the finish line… it all matters more than we realize.
That’s how this amazing sport grows! 😄
