Anything in oil, other than the additives, is nothing other than liquid sand paper. This liquid sand paper causes excessive wear and breakdowns and erodes your profits. The only way for the oil to work properly is to remove all contamination on a ongoing basis as soon as it enters the oil, down to a 1 micron level. If oil is not free of contamination, degradation of components takes place instead
of lubrication. The filter systems in oil lines normally clean down to 20 microns, which means that only the heavier particles are cleaned. The small particles in the 2 to 10 micron range are the particles that act as liquid sandpaper as they do not settle on the bottom of the tank, but are light enough to stay in suspension and are then being circulated through the system the entire time. These small particles are abrasive and cause new shavings that continiously flow through the oil pump.
