Durban heat can push your car harder than you expect, here are tips to take care of your car in a hot climate.

1) Monitor tyre pressure: Road heat causes air inside tyres to expand. Check pressure monthly when tyres are cold to avoid overinflation or potential blowouts.
2) Check wiper blades: Summer dust, pollen, and sudden storms wear down rubber blades quickly, so replace them if they streak or skip.
3) Park in the shade: Use covered parking, garages, or a windshield sunshade to keep interior temperatures down and prevent dashboard or steering wheel cracking.
4) Test the battery: High heat accelerates internal chemical reactions and fluid evaporation, which strains or overcharges older batteries.

How Do I Know If My Cambelt Needs Changing?
The cambelt is a rubber belt that controls the timing of your vehicle’s internal combustion engines. our car’s cambelt will almost certainly need changing at some point. You can often tell when it needs a change, as you will notice your car performing unusually.

1) Noise
Sometimes, a cambelt will produce a loud noise when the car is running, this happens most often when the vehicle is first started and the engine is cold. The noise could be a squealing, hissing, grinding, rattling, chirping or rumbling kind of sound.

2) Visual Check
Another way to check whether your cambelt needs replacing, is to take a look at the belt itself. If it is becoming worn, the belt will appear to look glazed or glossy on the underside. This means the rubber is getting hard and will not provide the flexibility the belt needs.
