The difference between automatic and manual wheel alignment
Automatic and manual wheel alignment primarily differ in their reliance on technology and precision.
Automatic (or computer-aided) alignment uses sensors and a computer to measure and adjust wheel angles, offering higher precision and speed. Automatic wheel alignment makes the job faster but it does not necessarily mean it will be accurate, hence test driving is done after wheel alignment.
NB: Automated or cumputerised wheel alignment is not done by the computer but rather it tells the technician what needs to be adjusted. The technician will still has to turn wrenches, manually.
Manual alignment relies on gauges and string or lasers, which requires a skilled technician and can be more prone to human error, and also it can be more cost-effective.
A lot of factors such as, the suspension, tyres, chassis, vehicle specifications, dimensions and weights; and whether or not the vehicle has been involved in the the car accident plays a major role in the accuracy of your vehicle's wheel alignment. π
