midweek tip

To jump-start a car with jumper cables:

Park the working car close to the dead car and turn both engines off.
Connect the red (+) cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery.
Connect the other end of the red cable to the positive terminal of the good battery.
Connect the black (-) cable to the negative terminal of the good battery.
Connect the other end of the black cable to an unpainted metal part of the dead car's engine or chassis (not the dead battery).
Start the working car and let it run for a few minutes.
Try starting the dead car.

Once it starts, remove the cables in reverse order:
Black from dead car
Black from good battery
Red from good battery
Red from dead battery

⚠️ Make sure the cable clamps never touch each other while connected and double-check that positive goes to positive and negative goes to negative.

Experienced Workshop Supervisor / Senior Technician

Executive Transmissions is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Workshop Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on position requiring extensive technical expertise as well as the ability to oversee daily workshop operations and client communications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on various makes and models of light commercial vehicles.
• Repair and service automatic and manual gearboxes.
• Diagnose and repair mechatronic units and control plates.
• Repair and maintain differentials, transfer cases, and complete drivetrain systems.
• Manage workshop workflow to ensure repairs are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Communicate professionally with clients regarding vehicle assessments, repairs, and progress updates.
• Handle telephone enquiries and provide technical feedback to customers.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, productivity, and customer service.
• Ensure jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and within agreed timelines.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years' experience working on light commercial vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of:
o Automatic and manual transmissions
o Mechatronic systems and control plates
o Differentials and transfer cases
o Drivetrain diagnosis and repairs
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workshop activities effectively.
• Valid driver's licence preferred.

Remuneration
Salary will be discussed during the interview process and will be based on experience and qualifications.
