1- What does the MAP sensor measure?

The MAP sensor measures the absolute pressure in the intake manifold of the engine. This reading is key for the ECU to adjust the air-fuel mix and ignition advance.

2- Conditions of the test:

⏭ Engine off:

- Represents atmospheric pressure.
- It must measure between 101-103 kPa (kilopascals) or a voltage of 4.5-5.0 V.
- This test confirms that the sensor responds correctly to the environment without applied vacuum.

⏭ Engine in slow motion:

- The engine is on, no accelerator applied.
- Absolute pressure should be between 25-40 kPa due to the vacuum generated in the collector, with a voltage of 0.9-1.5 V.
- This value depends on the condition of the engine and the vacuum generated.

: Medium acceleration:

- Engine starting and moderate acceleration.
- The pressure rises between 60-80 kPa, with a voltage of 2.5-3.5 V.

): Full throttle (full throttle):

- Engine started and throttle fully pressed.
The pressure is approaching the atmosphere, between 90-100 kPa, with a voltage of 4.0-4.8 V.

3- How to perform measurement:

⏭ Connector connected to the sensor:

- To measure the voltage, the sensor must be connected.
- Use a digital multimeter configured in DC voltage (DC).
- Insert the tips of the multimeter into the corresponding connector pins:
- black (ground): Dough pin.
- Red dot (signal): MAP sensor voltage signal pin.
- Readings are taken under the mentioned conditions (engine off, slowed down, etc.). ).

⏭ Disconnected sensor connector (to check feed):

sens If you suspect that the sensor is not receiving adequate feed:

With the connector disconnected, check voltage on the power pin (normally 5V provided by the ECU).
Confirm continuity on ground pin.

If voltage or pressure values do not match expected, it may indicate a faulty sensor, vacuum leakage, or wiring problems.( author unknown)
