DASH CARS are proud to offer 49-year-old “Grande Dame Green”, a (W108) 1973 Mercedes Benz 280SE automatic (Stacked/double lights spec). This regal Queen of yesteryear is in excellent overall condition and is arguably one of the most original examples around. She boasts a factory fitted air conditioner, period correct sound system and white walled tires.
She has undergone an extensive refurbishment. This included complete body work, tires, revamp brakes, renew electricals, re-gas air conditioner, new carpets and boot mat etc. The body work and chassis are very straight, rust free and in excellent condition for a 49-year-old vehicle. The doors open and close with that familiar solid “clunk” sound. Her interior is almost perfect, except for minor blemishes on the seats. They were not refurbished to maintain some original patina. All the correct gauges and buttons are in place.
Slide onto the huge seat and you immediately get that “Old School” feeling. Turn the key and the well renowned Mercedes six-cylinder purrs to life. Engage Drive on floor-shift selector and she smoothly pulls away. You immediately are taken back in time as this Grand Dame wafts along with smooth gear changes. That feeling of floating gently along, like “royalty”
Then, experience the amazing response from everyone around you. Turning heads, appreciative waves and “toots” from other drivers and lots of clicks of cell phone cameras. It felt so special!!
She will make an excellent addition to any collection. Prices of the W108’s are climbing worldwide, and some Mercedes experts predict that this is the time to buy one before values rocket.
