Volkswagen Golf Mk1 (2.0 ADY Conversion) came in as a non-runner 🔧🚗

Customer’s complaint was intermittent starting issues and the vehicle randomly switching off whilst driving, often leaving him stranded on the side of the road.

After a thorough diagnosis, we found the vehicle was running a Bosch 044 fuel pump while still using the standard fuel rail setup, resulting in incorrect fuel pressure regulation. We modified the fuel rail and fitted a Polo fuel filter to regulate fuel pressure correctly and restore reliable operation.

With the vehicle now starting and running properly, we got straight to work 👨‍🔧🔥

Volkswagen Polo 6R GTI 1.4 TSI DSG in for diagnostics and repairs 🔧

We carried out a full compression test and confirmed a healthy engine all round. A boost leak test then revealed a faulty intercooler and oil cap, both of which were replaced.

Further inspection of the turbocharger showed excessive play, and a full cooling system flush was also completed to wrap things up.

Customer will be back soon for turbo replacement and some extra TLC 👨‍🔧🔥
