Terwyl petrolpryse Woensdag in Gauteng tot bo R26 per liter gestyg het, en dieselpryse in die provinsie tot bo R25 per liter, moet Suid-Afrikaners hulself staal vir ’n verdere verhoging in brandstofpryse in Augustus.

In Januarie vanjaar het Suid-Afrikaners maar net meer as R19 per liter brandstof betaal, wat weens die oorlog in die Oekraïne, wisselkoerse en stygende oliepryse maandeliks tot rekordhoogtes gestyg het. Dít teenoor Mei 2012 waar Suid-Afrikaners maar R12 per liter petrol betaal het. In Maart 2018, 6 jaar later, het motoriste R13 per liter betaal, aangesien brandstofpryse maandeliks met bykans 20c per liter gedaal of gestyg het.

Augustus gaan egter weer slegte nuus vir motoriste bring – dalk selfs ʼn nuwe rekordhoogtepunt in die brandstofprys met ʼn defnitiewe styging van 75c per liter aangesien die regering se brandstofheffing weer ten volle ingestel word.

Motorists will face large fuel price hikes on Wednesday, as the petrol levy cut falls from R1.50 a litre to 75c.

Petrol prices will be hiked by R2.37 (93) and R2.57 (95) a litre, while diesel prices will rise by R2.31 (0.05% sulphur) and R2.30 (0.005% sulphur) a litre, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced on Monday. In Gauteng, a litre of 95 petrol will cost R26.74 from Wednesday. This is 54% more than a year ago, when it cost R17.39.

Paraffin prices will increase by R1.66 a litre, while the maximum LPGas retail price will fall by R2.18/kg.
