Customer story: Volkswagen Caddy 2.0 TDI — rough idle and a slight shudder under load.

The owner had visited several workshops and been told that replacing the injectors was the way to resolve it.
After finding Evolve Automotive on Google, he asked for our opinion. We recommended a full advanced diagnosis to establish the cause before replacing any components.

What we found: A pressure control valve (PCV) that was starting to fail.

What it took: Targeted testing using our diagnostic equipment and diesel system experience, followed by replacement of the faulty valve.

The result: The rough idle and shudder were resolved at approximately one-eighth of the proposed injector repair or replacement cost. Replacing the injectors would have left the actual fault unresolved.
20,000 km later, we still service this vehicle.

Exams start on Tuesday 13 October. Parents and lift-club drivers: the last thing anyone needs on exam morning is a car that won’t start or a warning light that has just come on.

If the family car or bakkie is due, this is a sensible week to have it looked at (service, OBD scan, leak check) so exam mornings stay calm.
