𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗶𝗽: On corrugated gravel, your shocks can compress and rebound over 1,000 times every kilometre. That heats the oil until it thins, which is called shock fade. You get more bounce, less control and extra strain on bushes and mounts. Shocks matched to your load and route make a real difference on a long cross-border trip.

𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗡𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗮

Ever felt your bakkie bounce, dip, or wander on the road? That's often your shocks calling for help.

This 𝗡𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗮 came in early this morning for an emergency inspection. The front shocks were completely broken, so our team got to work:

✅ Front shock absorber replacement
✅ Strut top mount replacement
✅ Full front suspension check

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? Shock absorbers don't primarily support the vehicle's weight; the springs provide the suspension's springing/load-support function, while the shocks control suspension movement. They do this by forcing hydraulic fluid through valving, creating damping that reduces suspension movement and helps maintain tyre contact with the road.

Poor or ineffective shock damping can affect vehicle control and emergency braking performance. Strut assemblies also incorporate upper mounts, although the exact design and whether a bearing is incorporated depends on the vehicle.

Ever wondered what happens inside a cylinder head after a few too many hot, dusty kilometres? 🔧

This Ford Ranger came in for a full head rebuild. Here's what goes into getting it right:

✅ Head stripped and cleaned of carbon build-up
✅ Surface checked for flatness with a straightedge and feeler gauge
✅ Pressure tested for hidden cracks
✅ Valve seats cut and valves lapped for a proper seal
✅ New valve stem seals and head gasket fitted
✅ Head bolts torqued in sequence to spec
