In Oscar’s last video, he couldn’t stand. Today, he shared an update while walking up the road.

It’s been an incredibly tough fight, but throughout it Oscar has had a goal: to get to the ICF World Surfski Championships in Villajoyosa, Spain.

And this morning came the news we’ve all been hoping for. His blood tests showed a remarkable improvement and his doctor has given him the go-ahead to board his flight to Spain. ❤️

For Oscar, being there is about much more than the racing. He has watched surfski grow around the world over many years and is incredibly proud to have played a part in that journey.

And this World Championships will be particularly special for the Chalupsky family.

Three generations of Chalupskys will be on the water, all paddling ChalupSki surfskis:
🌊 Paul Chalupsky, 89
🌊 Herman Chalupsky, 62
🌊 Luke Chalupsky, 34

And Oscar will be there alongside them,
commentating on the main event.

ChalupSki surfskis are getting ready to make their way to the 2026 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships at Club Náutico de Villajoyosa in Spain.

With racing taking place from 9–11 October, paddlers from around the world will soon be lining up on the Mediterranean, and we can't wait to see ChalupSki out there amongst them.

But there's another reason this World Champs is going to be particularly special for us.
Seven members of the Chalupsky family will be there, spanning THREE GENERATIONS. From Oscar's father Paul, at 89, to his brother Herman, son Luke and the rest of the family making the trip.
And best of all, Coach Oscar Chalupsky will be there too!

After fighting one of the hardest battles of his life against cancer, Oscar is now ready to travel to Spain and will be behind the microphone, commentating on the main event.

For a family whose lives have been so closely connected to paddling, having three generations together at a World Championships is going to mean a great deal.

Some of the biggest differences come down to the smallest details.

This is the Chalupski philosophy, where every detail has a job to do.

From recessed handles that make remounting easier, to an adjustable footrest you can change from the cockpit, the deBrito bailer designed to drain the cockpit quickly with minimal drag, and a watch holder that keeps your data where you can actually see it.

We recently received a message from Norwegian paddler Amund Vold, who had the chance to put the ChalupSki Molokai through its paces, clocking 3:15 over 1km. And according to Coach Oscar Chalupsky: “That is seriously fast!”

But there's far more to Amund's story than speed.

In 2019, at 21 years old, Amund was diagnosed with leukemia, putting his paddling career on hold while he underwent treatment. His journey back to international competition has been remarkable, culminating in an emotional K1 5000m World Cup gold in Szeged in May 2025, his first World Cup gold since his diagnosis.

An incredible paddler and an even more impressive story of determination and resilience.

A special first for ChalupSki in Europe. 🌍🌊

Our first ChalupSki International Dealer Conference is underway in the Netherlands, bringing together dealers from across Europe, as well as our USA distributor, for two days of paddling, product testing, discussion and sharing ideas for the future.

A huge thank you to Kanocentrum arjan bloem for hosting us. Oscar’s friendship with the Bloem family goes back many years, making it particularly special that this first European gathering is taking place here.

Oscar had planned to be in Amsterdam himself, but unfortunately a serious bacterial infection has resulted in him being treated in ICU in Cape Town. He is deeply disappointed not to be there, but is very much there in spirit as the ChalupSki team and dealer network come together.

In his absence, his brother Walter Chalupsky and Cohen Tsui from Peishengboat are representing ChalupSki, spending time with our dealers, sharing the thinking behind the range and, most importantly, getting everyone out on the water to test the skis and paddles for themselves.

To everyone who has sent messages and asked after Oscar, thank you. Your support means an enormous amount to him and the family.

For now, the ChalupSki family keeps moving forward, and we wish our dealers a fantastic couple of days in Amsterdam.
