Driving South Africa’s EV Evolution: Charging Into a Greener Future
South Africa is at a tipping point in its transport and energy journey. The global shift to electric vehicles (EVs) is accelerating, and our market is now primed to make the leap. What’s been holding us back? Not appetite, not technology—but infrastructure.
The EV Infrastructure Shift
For years, the conversation around EVs has circled range, cost, and access to charging. Without a reliable network, adoption stalls. That’s why the next decade in South Africa will be defined by the rollout of charging infrastructure—future-ready, reliable, and sustainable.
In partnership with leading players across energy and mobility, we’re preparing to roll out a charging network that covers the nation—urban hubs, intercity highways, and even the mining and logistics corridors that drive our economy.
Built Green, Powered Green
This isn’t just about chargers. It’s about green chargers. Wherever possible, our network will be powered by renewable energy. Where direct supply isn’t feasible, our 40MW solar farm in eMalahleni, now under development, will play a central role in ensuring clean energy feeds the grid that powers our mobility future.
South Africa doesn’t just need chargers—it needs chargers that align with our sustainability goals and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
Beyond Cars: The Future of Freight and Mining
EV adoption is not only about private vehicles. Heavy transport, logistics, and mining fleets represent some of the biggest opportunities—and challenges—for electrification. That’s why we’re working with the largest yellow goods suppliers in Africa to deploy embedded charging and energy solutions for trucks and mining equipment.
It’s about building confidence that an electric transition is not only possible, but practical at every scale of mobility.
A Decade of Opportunity
Over the next ten years, South Africa will see one of the largest transformations in its transport and energy history. We’re not talking about concepts anymore—we’re talking about projects, partnerships, and progress that is already in motion.
This is the start of a movement that will touch every sector: commuters, corporates, fleets, logistics, mining, and beyond.

👉 I’d love to hear from investors, partners, and innovators who want to be part of this journey. The opportunities are vast, and collaboration is the only way we will build the EV ecosystem South Africa deserves.
