BMW Coolant Leak
JWD Car Repairs | Durbanville

This BMW came in for a full inspection after the client noticed a coolant leak. We found the radiator was leaking, along with the front crank seal. A new radiator was fitted, and a complete front crank cover with seal was sourced directly from BMW. We also installed new shocks. Once the crank seal is fitted, the vehicle will go for wheel alignment before being handed back to the client.

Bigger Injector Tips on the GD6 Hilux

Jarren’s bakkie is in for a few upgrades. We removed the injectors to fit bigger injector tips, allowing for more fuel and ultimately more power. The fuel rail has also been removed as part of the process. While it’s in the workshop, we’re replacing the faulty seatbelt that isn’t retracting properly with a new unit from Toyota. Once everything is back together, the plan is to get it on the dyno and see what power it makes.

Volkswagen Build

This car came in for a full inspection, where we found a number of issues including worn suspension components, tie rod ends, ball joints, leaking side shaft seals and rear wheel bearings. We also noticed it’s running a 288 cam without an adjustable vernier gear, so we fitted one to allow proper cam timing adjustment. A short shifter kit was also installed for the client.

Once all the mechanical work is complete, the car will head to the dyno to fine-tune the cam timing, fueling and engine management.

A busy day in the workshop…
JWD Car Repairs | Durbanville

The Polo is in for a front wheel bearing and suspension work, while the boss’s bakkie is getting a new front light bar before heading out. The BMW needs several oil leaks repaired, including the front crank seal, sump, lower timing cover and drain plug, along with a leaking radiator.

We also have a Toyota GD-6 in for a service and inspection, plus the Seat receiving suspension work, including control arms and stabilizer links, as well as a replacement PCV breather pipe.

BMW Coolant Leak…
JWD Car Repairs | Durbanville

This BMW came in after the client noticed a coolant leak following longer drives. After inspection, we found the radiator was leaking again despite having been replaced about two years ago.

During our 51-point inspection, we also picked up oil leaks from the front crank seal and sump. The client approved the repairs, so we’re replacing the radiator and crank seal, resealing the sump and finishing the job with fresh oil.

VW Cambelt Replacement…

This vehicle is in for some important maintenance, starting with a cam belt replacement after we found the old belt was cracked and worn. Because the cam belt also drives the water pump, we’re replacing the water pump at the same time and doing a full coolant flush. We’re also fitting new lower control arms and replacing the front and rear brakes to get everything back in good working order.

This week at JWD…
Jwd Car Repairs

It’s a mix of diagnostics, repairs, and some serious problem-solving. The Chevrolet came in as a non-starter. At first, we thought it was contaminated fuel. But it turns out running below empty pulled debris into the system. Injectors are out, cleaned, and luckily still usable. Now we’re also replacing the timing belt and tensioners.

The Audi had rats get into the wiring, so we’ve repaired most of it. Just finishing up soldering and testing before it’s back on the road. And then a Toyota Fortuner getting the full treatment. Every oil replaced, from engine to diffs. Just another week at JWD, fixing problems properly and keeping vehicles reliable.
