Last Saturday, Cape Kustoms joined the absolute chaos at the Mischief Garage 9 Hours of Lemons at Killarney International Raceway 🏁🍋

Nine hours of non-stop racing, breakdowns, smoke, madness, and pure adrenaline — where literally anything can happen on track!

Massive respect to everyone who raced, supported, fixed cars under pressure, and kept the energy alive throughout the day. Events like these remind us why we love the car scene so much. 🚗💨

The Ford Cortina Rat Rod – “Knortina Brakkie” 🔥

Built by Cape Kustoms and showcased at the Classic Car & Bike Show 2026, this bare-metal Cortina Rat Rod stood out for its raw character and bold individuality. Since handover, the owner has added a few personal touches — and it still looks absolutely epic.
A true blend of old-school grit and modern attitude.

The Ford Cortina Rat Rod – “Knortina Brakkie” 🔥

We originally picked up this Cortina bakkie with plans to turn it into a shop truck… but as all great builds go, the vision evolved. Instead, we leaned into its raw character and transformed it into a full resto/rod — keeping every original battle scar and finishing it in a bare-metal look that shows off its history with pride.

This beast was stripped down to the bones and rebuilt with purpose:

⚙️ Rear bed shortened + converted to a flatbed
⚙️ Independent rear suspension from a Ford Sapphire
⚙️ 3.0L V6 with a few spicy mods
⚙️ Full free-flow exhaust
⚙️ Drift brake installed
🔊 Rockford Fosgate sound system
📟 Digital dashboard for that modern twist

The result? A wild mix of old-school grit and modern attitude — a build that’s just as fun to drive as it is to look at. She’s now out on the streets of Cape Town, turning heads and causing smiles with her new owner behind the wheel.
