Ford's Everest Tremor Is Coming to South Africa, and It Means Business!
Hot on the heels of the confirmation, Ford South Africa isn't done making announcements. The is joining the local line-up in Q4 2026, and it's arguably the most interesting Everest variant the Blue Oval has ever brought to Mzansi.
The standard is already a solid family SUV - comfortable, capable enough, and well-equipped. But "capable enough" has never been a phrase that sells in South Africa, where weekends involve river crossings and the word "road" is used very loosely. The Tremor addresses that directly.
Start with the suspension. Ford has fitted Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers and new off-road-tuned springs, which, in combination with General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres, liberate an additional 26 mm of ground clearance over the standard Everest. That's not a trivial number when you're picking a line through a rocky riverbed in the Cederberg.
The Tremor is also the only Everest in the range to feature Rock Crawl Drive Mode - a dedicated setting that manages traction and momentum on loose, technical terrain, the kind of thing that separates a genuinely capable off-roader from one that merely looks the part.
Visually, it's distinguished by a honeycomb grille with auxiliary LED lamps, a steel bash plate, heavy-duty side steps, Tremor badging, and an exclusive Command Grey exterior colour that looks purposeful rather than pretty.
Under the bonnet sits Ford's 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel - the same unit found in the and the incoming Super Duty - producing 184 kW and 600 Nm. Braked towing capacity is rated at 3,500 kg, which means the Tremor can haul a serious caravan or boat without complaint.
Inside, there's no hair-shirt off-roader austerity either. Tremor-embossed leather seats, ebony interior accents, SYNC 4 infotainment, and Ford's full safety suite mean the family doesn't suffer while dad plays adventurer.
Pricing will be confirmed closer to launch. But if the Ranger Tremor's reception is anything to go by, Ford's order books are about to get very busy.
