A small, passionate and battle-scarred group of motorcycle adventure friends got together and we designed and created a new, tough and back to basics brand of functional motorcycle luggage. The world is a big place that poses incredibly rough challenges for motorcycle gear. As seasoned adventurers, we have literally been around the block and got that t-shirt. So we know the abuse motorcycles and the gear we ride with have to withstand during those excursions in remote locations. The Turkana range of gear will safely carry your stuff, no matter the level of outrageousness of your trip. Alas, it really does not matter what your style of travel is or how hardcore (or not) you want to be - once you have used a piece of Turkana kit, we know you will be hooked!

LESS FUEL, MORE FUN AND A WHOLE LOT MORE ADVENTURE!

Honda SA CRF300L, CRF300 Rally and a little Turkana Gear magic!
Who says commuting has to be boring? Or that you need a massive adventure bike with enough electronics to launch a satellite to have a proper adventure?

The Honda CRF300L and CRF300 Rally are two cracking little motorcycles that make a whole lot of sense. Lightweight, economical, easy to handle and with just enough hooligan in their DNA to keep you grinning.

Traffic? Bring it on. Potholes? Phuleeeez! Speed bumps? You mean catching air? Roundabouts? Suddenly the Dakar Rally has a qualifying round on your way to work. 😁

With proper suspension and decent ground clearance, these little Hondas have you eyeing every kerb, dirt track and shortcut like a kid looking for something to jump. Obviously, we'll behave ourselves on public roads. Mostly.

This is the kind of motorcycle setup we really like.
Our Cape Town dealer, Flying Brick Motorcycle Accessories, got hold of a BMW F 450 GS and dressed it with Turkana Gear, but without turning a light middleweight bike into a pack mule.

Because that is the beauty of bikes like this. Monday morning it can take you to work. Friday afternoon you can point it out of town and just keep going.

You don't need 100 litres of luggage to travel. You probably don't even need half the stuff you think you do. 😁

⚠This one is running HippoHips saddlebags, a PelliPouch™ handlebar bag, GeckoGrip™ tank bag base and BullFrog™ 5L roll-top tank bag.
Keep the weight low, keep luggage simple, and pack what you actually use.

For the daily commute, you have space for the boring grown-up stuff. For a weekend away, there is more than enough. And if you're prepared to travel properly light, there is absolutely no reason this setup can't take you much, much further.

That's something we've learnt from years of motorcycle travel: more luggage capacity usually just means you find more crap to fill it with. 😁

A smaller bike with lightweight soft luggage is cheap to run, easy to live with, easier to handle when the road turns ugly, and still perfectly capable of taking you travelling.
Ride it to work, ride it across a country, same bike, same luggage.

The humble waist bag has been called a lot of things. Bum bag. F***y pack. Waist pack. Sling bag.

We figured it was time somebody gave it a proper rethink.

The Turkana StowCrow™ EDC is a slim, tough everyday carry bag built for travel, motorcycles, overlanding and everyday use. Wear it around your waist, crossbody or over your shoulder, remove the straps and use it as an organiser, or strap it to your motorcycle, backpack, bicycle or 4x4.

At 26 x 14 x 4 cm, it's compact enough to stay out of the way but big enough for passports, phone, wallet, sunglasses, cables, keys and all the other small stuff that normally disappears exactly when you need it.

Built from tough TuskTex500™ fabric, with oversized #10 zips, removable internal storage and multiple attachment points.

Basically, we took the old-school waist bag and asked: how would we build this for people who actually travel and use their gear?

Cape Town to Morocco on a KTM 690 Enduro. That was the plan.

Tagore Sureshbabu flew from India to South Africa, bought a KTM690 in Cape Town, loaded it with Turkana soft luggage gear and pointed it north.

What followed was thousands of kilometres through Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania. Dirt roads, desert, wildlife, some interesting border crossings, a broken KTM690 that needed a tow to Lusaka, and plenty of the usual stuff that turns a motorcycle trip into a proper story.

The bike broke. He fixed it.
In the end, it wasn't the KTM, the terrain or Africa that stopped him. It was something far less adventurous: paperwork. 😁

Tagore eventually had to call the trip in Dar es Salaam and return home to India. Morocco would have to wait.

But he's not finished.
Next time he's bringing his own bike from India and pointing it north again.
