Synthetic oil
is a man-made lubricant designed for superior performance compared to conventional motor oil. It consists of artificially created chemical compounds, often from refined petroleum, with uniform molecular structures that enhance stability and performance under extreme conditions. Unlike conventional mineral oil, synthetic oil has consistent molecules, resulting in better flow and stability. Most synthetic oils use Polyalphaolefins (PAO) or other synthetic bases, supplemented with additives for improved cleaning, corrosion protection, lubrication, and thermal stability. Semi-synthetic oils blend conventional mineral oil with synthetic base stocks, offering some benefits of full synthetics at a lower cost.
