Semi-Skilled Diesel Mechanic - Blackheath, Western Cape

Responsibilities (Not limited to the below)
Inspect, test, and listen to defective engines/parts to diagnose malfunctions.
Replace broken parts with new and reconditioned parts.
Retest vehicles to ensure problem has been repaired.
Keep accurate records of faults identified and repairs done to vehicles.
Conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicles according to the relevant standard operating procedure.
Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
Identify any mechanical problems and obtain authorization to carry out the necessary repairs whilst conducting these routine checks.
Maintain records of all parts used for invoicing purposes.
Ensure all work is carried according to company standards.
Ensure vehicle/equipment safety procedures are followed to avoid damage to engine components.
Operate equipment and carry out all duties in a safe manner.
Maintain equipment, protective clothing and work areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
Any other duties as may be required by management.
Qualifications
Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
Proven minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Assistant Artisan.
Knowledge & experience of medium to heavy haulage diesel engines.
License preferred - will be required to acquire code 14 license upon successful appointment.
The applicant should be in a good physical condition, an independent worker, self-motivated, is able to work under pressure and without supervision.
