Tyler Posthumus’ two INEX Legends South Africa race wins saw him finish Round 3 of the 2026 championship this past weekend (24-25 April) on top of the points table.
With three races on the day around the anti-clockwise short circuit, and with Devin Robertson absent from the line-up, the lead was bound to change. Although entered, Clint Buckman did not attend the event. Posthumus’ day got off to a good start with him drawing the pole position for the Race 1 grid, joined by Dylan Fourie on the front row. Rico Raker and Sebastian Venkov lined up on Row 2, with Neels Jooste and Santiago Frade completing the grid.
In the 12-lap first race, Posthumus took the lead on the points table after becoming only the second race winner in 2025, the other being former leader Robertson. Fourie finished second, still comfortably ahead of Raker, despite the latter’s push to catch up in the closing stages. Venkov and Jooste were the other drivers completing the full race distance, while Frade finished sixth, a lap down.
Jooste had the pole spot for Race 2, with the draw inverted for all apart from Frade. still one of the new drivers in the series. Venkov experienced gearbox issues in Race 1, which necessitated a change of cars. Delays in the programme, brought on by the weather, also resulted in the remaining races being shortened to 10 laps.
It did not take Posthumus long to move to the front of the field, despite Venkov’s best efforts to keep him at bay. Posthumus made it two wins, while Raker also passed Venkov to take second place. Fourie finished in a somewhat lonely fourth place, while Frade held off Jooste for fifth place.
For Race 3, Jooste again headed up the grid from Venkov, Fourie, Raker, Posthumus, and Frade. However, Jooste retired on the warm-up lap with a locked differential. Raker broke away at the front as the rest of the field battled it out. On Lap 5, things got too close for comfort in this group. Posthumus got spun around after contact from Venkov, while Fourie was also sidelined. This saw the Safety Car deployed to move Fourie’s stricken car to safety. What followed was a two-lap sprint to the flag around the short circuit. Initially, Raker had his work cut out to keep Posthumus at bay, but Venkov soon upset this battle with a final corner move on the penultimate lap, which almost saw him take the lead. This did work in Raker’s favour, though, as Venkov and Posthumus were now locked in a battle. Raker took the win, with Venkov taking second place with a photo-finish ahead of Posthumus. Frade was the final finisher.
Posthumus took the honours on the day from Raker and Venkov, in the Series and in the Professional Class. Frade and Jooste took the respective Youngs Lions and Masters Class wins.
With four rounds remaining in this season, the INEX Legends South Africa brigade now takes a mid-season break before their next outing on 27 June at Dezzi Raceway.
