As you know, tuning for power on a dyno doesn’t make your car perfect. It simply shortens the time you need to spend on the road and makes the process safer.

For racing, real-world tuning is even more important. Track surface, gear ratios for each circuit, wind conditions, and driving style can all be properly evaluated and controlled on the actual track. That’s why every car should be street-tuned after dyno tuning.

To put it more accurately, a dyno is a supporting tool for the initial setup—and, in many cases, a way to sell a car with an impressive horsepower number on the screen. Those numbers can be manipulated.

Street tuning requires far more skill than simply chasing target lambda numbers. You need to listen to the car, understand its noises, and feel how it responds.

Before you can truly street-tune a race car, you need to be a professional driver first.
