The Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh Expressway formally opened to traffic on October 10, cutting the travel time from Ha Noi to the northern province of Hoa Binh to one hour. This route shortens the travel distance between Hanoi and Hoa Binh province by 20 kilometres compared to National Highway 6.
The road surface is 11 metres wide with four lanes, allowing for a maximum speed of 80 kilometres per hour.
The fees are planned to range from VND35,000 (US$1.5) to VND180,000 (US$7.74) per transit depending on the type of vehicle.
