Memorable and Amazing Team Members.
Alongside the ever-proficient Dock Master and his trusted assistants—Francis, Kurt, and Butch—who reliably attended to VOYAGE Marina clients with professionalism and charm, 2010 also marked the arrival of another remarkable team member: Marc Vanden Eijnde.
Marc was no stranger to the VOYAGE family. Through his wife, Cathy Costermans—VOYAGE’s long-trusted company accountant—and their son Damien, a charter captain for the company, Marc was already part of VOYAGE long before officially joining the team. When he finally stepped into his role, he brought with him a wealth of local experience and a deep understanding of charter operations.
From day one, Marc proved himself invaluable. He took the helm on bareboat client briefings and debriefings, ensuring every guest not only understood their vessel but felt confident and cared for as they embarked on their adventure. His calm professionalism bridged the gap between guest experience and fleet readiness, adding a layer of trust and excellence that set VOYAGE apart.
When not out on the docks or aboard a yacht, Marc could often be found in Cathy’s office, carefully logging notes and reports for the maintenance crew—meticulous work that kept operations running smoothly.
Together, Cathy and Marc remain a powerhouse duo whose dedication and expertise have been and continue to be instrumental to VOYAGE’s growth. Their behindthescenes contributions have quietly but profoundly shaped the company’s success, proving that teamwork and passion are at the heart of every great voyage.
A valuable addition at that time was Alex Gomez, from the Dominican Republic. Alex a master of cleanliness with an eye for detail. Starting as a boat cleaner and maintenance assistant, Alex soon proved himself an essential part of the team. His craftsmanship in boat repairs and his talent for detailed interior and exterior finishing earned him not only respect but admiration from colleagues and guests alike. Always arriving at work with a warm smile, Alex brought more than skills—he brought heart. Over 15 years later, he remains a vital part of the VOYAGE story. His dedication even became a family affair when his wife, Cathy later joined the team to support laundry and office cleaning efforts.
Also joining the VOYAGE maintenance team was Christian Cherymond. From the start, Christian’s natural aptitude in refrigeration stood out and he remained a skilled member of the team, before taking a bold step—venturing out to establish his own refrigeration business right here in Tortola. Today, Christian is a proud entrepreneur, but his bond with VOYAGE remains.
Among the most treasured members of the VOYAGE family was Alfonsa Acosta Joseph, lovingly known to everyone as “Tonita.”
Tonita came from the Dominican Republic, sharing her VOYAGE chapter with her brother Chicho Acosta Joseph, a long-time gardener and general maintenance assistant for the company. From her very first day, Tonita stood out—not just for her incredible work ethic, but for the warmth and joy she carried into every corner of the VOYAGE base.
There was no task too big or small for Tonita. She cared for every space, from the public toilets to the laundry, offices, workshops, and stores. Day after day, she gave her all, making VOYAGE shine—literally and figuratively. Her smile was radiant, her nature endlessly kind, and her dedication unmatched. She was, quite simply, a gem.
Tonita worked closely with Doris, Wanda and Krish, always ready to lend a hand on and off the boats, always eager to help, always bringing that unmistakable spark that made her beloved by all.
When Tonita passed away after nearly six years with the company, it marked one of the saddest days for the team. Yet even in loss, her memory lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and we will always cherish Tonita’s smile, her spirit, and her invaluable place in our VOYAGE story.
