A letter from the Wife,
"Those who can, do; those that can't, teach".- George Bernard Shaw
Oh, the irony...
Usually I'm just relaying messages to Tommy that are left on this page but, today I received a distressing call in regards to a long time customer. Now if you know Tommy, you know his customers are more like friends and family. Having met him shortly after he took ownership, many of the names I've got to know quite well and although I don't get to the shop it's still nice to hear from them and of them...usually. Now every once in awhile my Northern side comes out. I'm not the trusting one because too often no matter how good you are to someone, they will turn on you like they don't know you. I've seen the toll it takes on him now and then. He's never been the one to turn on anyone. Thankfully he has me to occasionally deal with things like this.
Now if a good customer who is regarded as a friend over let's say nearly 20 years has had a run of ordering their own parts incorrectly and is angry when work isn't done due to having to order correct parts, I'd say that seems pretty ridiculous. When a service writer orders a correct part as to not hold you up from having your car and you can deal with returning the wrong part you ordered, I'd say be thankful they were thinking about you and your needs. When you make a written statement saying that with your social media and connections, you will ruin his buisness in months...I say you need to tread lightly. As an educated man that is flexing his ability to gleefully ruin a man and a family business over your own lack of knowledge in the field of automotive repair, it's laughable. You say what's happened to Tommy ? I'd say absolutely nothing, but of you I'm not too sure. A man that works hard, lives at the shop 5 days a week, and literally bleeds for the buisness or a man who is throwing a tantrum and stomping his feet for attention over a non-issue. Hmmm... And if there actually was a real issue, you should have been man enough to put your phone down, stop texting and speak face to face like you use to and it would be handled. The time for niceties has passed however and that's on you. Receiving texts about premeditated slander doesn't exactly make my day. I'm not coming on her saying he's perfect or the shop is but they damn well try and you know it. I am coming on her saying when you point the finger, there's 4 pointing back at you ( thanks to our girls...you remember them, right? ) and you need to be honest about who's actually causing multiple issues due to simply ordering your own incorrect parts in an effort to save yourself a little bit of money. I mean, you aren't saving the shop any money when a mechanic has to do the same job over because of wrong parts...we eat that cost. You cost us time...waiting for correct parts to be delivered. As an educated man who thinks your more educated than those working on your car, can you wrap your head around just how much of an inconvenience you can be in regards to this ? Truthfully, I'd say that the threat you stated is unfounded.
Oh, but wait...
You just text and still want your car worked on by them but are now upset that they don't want you ordering your own parts ? That's all kinds of special right there. Now, if I could speak "NY" for you this would have been over in two words and a colorful gesture. If you want to use your connections as you stated in your text to ruin my husband, feel free. There's always a reaction to an action. For those of you who know Tommy and trust him, keep doing so...you are all appreciated. To the one who this is directed to: when I hear petty crap like this and I'm 2 hours away, you'd better believe I'm furious. Don't like what I said ? Don't care. Might want to march your college degrees over to the nearest technicial college offering automotive degrees because at this rate no one will want to work on your vehicles.
Best of luck elsewhere and I don't want to hear this from your again, Capisce ?
