With all the dirt in this valve cover, my bet says that I'll find a dirty air filter in this Wing. This ones a 2008 with 82k on its ODM. When dirty air gets passed the air filter, and enters the combustion area, as cumbustion occures, some cumbustion gets passed the rings, and as that happens that dirt works like sandpaper on them. Thus this engine will be an early oil burner, and sometimes unexpected issue can arise. For example, as 5th gens age, we are starting to see Wings that come in after having their clutch replaced, but find after that they still have a slipping clutch. Now days our first question is "was the air filter replaced every 12k or sooner?" In the second picture is something I don't recall ever seeing before. Dirt particals that have landed near a valve shim. Can such particals work their way between the shim and the valve bucket which would increase valve opening ... as time goes on, I'm sure we'll see !!! Hopefully the take aways is to follow Honda's Maintance Schedule.
