A hunter shoots one deer with an arrow, butchers it, and puts clean meat in the freezer for his family. A vegan buys an avocado that was grown somewhere else, watered heavily, harvested, packed, shipped, trucked, stocked, and wrapped in a grocery store. But somehow the hunter is the environmental problem?
Wild deer are already here. They have to be managed either way. When a hunter fills a tag close to home, that is local food, no factory farm, no feedlot, no cargo ship, no fake moral high ground. If people want to eat be vegan and chew on plants, that is their choice. But don’t lecture hunters about “saving the planet” while your food is sprayed with chemicals and shipped all around the country before it gets to you.
