375hp L-77 for a number matching 1969 Camaro SS resto project. Customer wanted to keep it as close to original as possible, sound, performance, castings, etc… while dropping the compression to a pump gas friendly 9.5:1 and going to a hydraulic roller instead of solid flat tappet. I think we did alright, made 455hp@6000/457tq… idles really happy at 700rpm… nice smooth torque and hp curves, and pulls to 6500rpm without skipping a beat. #396

Ok… folks… step right up… guess the beans… get a shirt n hat. Nice 60 over REAL stock stroke 289 (2.87”) 9.3:1 cr, renegade small valve heads with a little port dust up, shelf hyd roller 224/[email protected], rpm intake. We’re talking a really nice stockish Cali-swill pump gas 289 for a 1965 Ford Falcon. Even has the stock dizzy… idles at 600-650… I mean no extra frills other than listed and some Bostick love on the machine work and assembly. I picked this since it’s not one of our typical 650hp pump gas or 900hp hotrod jet boat deals… just something different but an ordinary street deal. First to guess closest… wins. Btw… I’m still dynoing this girl, so I probably won’t be done for a few with results.
***EDIT***
Forgot to add this here… but Hp/tq #’s… closest on both together gets it.

It seems, at least to me, that anymore, all I do is come across shoddy work, poor quality, lack of pride in work, and a general dgaf attitude in this, and most other industries. I am also aware that I do spend a considerable amount of time grumbling about it. It’s becoming commonplace to the point where it’s becoming the rule rather than the exception. Sad. So I would like to take this time to acknowledge people who I work with that do still take pride in their work, put out quality work, and actually still look out for their customers. I recently decided it was necessary to put new tires on the cortina… 18 years and a blow-out on the way to the duct tape drags… it’s probably about time. Years before me, someone took the original Lotus wheels and modified the offset. They never fit right and always rubbed. So I had .angus cut the centers out and re-install in the hoops at the correct offset. Dude killed it… knocked them out in short time… totally got them dead straight and was able to do it without damaging the unobtanium wheels. The only complaint is the welds on the inside look too good for 1965 Lotus quality😂. Then Tyler , who prepped them for Angus by blasting 58 years of layers of paint and schmeg, reblasted them and laid on a really nice silver base with a clear over the top. His powder work never dissapoints. Next stop was to where, they were actually the first stop to bust the difficult to remove dry rotted tires off, without damaging them, which I really appreciate. On the return visit they installed new tires and balanced spot on. Overall, all three shops did everything I wanted, all fitting in within their hectic busy schedules, and all did a fantastic job. Car looks so much better… drives better… and now I’m guilting myself into working on the rest of it to match how good this came out. This is what workmanship in America is supposed to be… and I am very happy that I get to work with and spend money with people that still believe in doing the best job they can. Thanks dudes.

This month marks 15 years of officially being in business as Bostick Racing Engines… and what a 15 years. Starting from absolutely nothing in my garage after leaving my previous job, It was rough as hell the first few years… but steadily, work kept coming in, getting busier and busier… and I was able to buy more equipment to keep more of the work in house, controlling every aspect of the jobs. Those that were around in the early days, probably remember how jam packed my little garage and shop was… almost impossible to believe we turned out so many great builds and cranked a lot of work out of that tiny place. Now… with over 4000 sq ft and a dyno building, we have one of the most complete performance oriented machine shops in the area. Often getting people from Phoenix, San Diego, Las Vegas, etc… to have machine work done they can’t source locally and building engines for people as far away as New York, Canada, and Georgia. It’s crazy… it’s cool… and I’m damn lucky to have had the support of some great people along the way… both customers and friends. Photos are of our current shop in Yuma, video at the end is a tour of where we started in my garage in El Cajon. Continued in comments…

Never too much power… just not enough pump.😂

308 Ford Y Block. A build we did a while back was to built what started off as a stone stock, 1956 272 Ford Y-block into an aluminum headed 308 stroker hotrod. Equipped with BRE fluffed n buffed Mummert heads, offset ground stock crankshaft to use chevy small journal rod specs, narrowed and re-worked S**t 6.200 H-Beam rods, Mummert aluminum intake, Schneider flat tappet cam, Rocker Arm Rebuilders brand new shaft rockers, Manton pushrods, and JE custom 9.6:1 dome pistons. An oddball project that was both fun to build and netted some decent results. 314hp bolted to a T-5 5speed should be enough to push the 1956 F100 it originally came out of, fairly well.

We have a dyno on site too, proud to say we can handle jobs A to Z all in house.
