We had a local customer come in for some bends for his car. And he was so cool and sent us this picture of his car and his Co-pilot (his Dad). And a cool story⦠Here is a little back story on my 1970 Dodge Coronet 500. The Coronet came in a many packages such as the Custom, 440, 500, SuperBee and RT. My car is a 500 with a SuperBee hood. The 500 package came standard with lots of exterior and interior upgrades but with the mild 318 V8 engine.
My father purchased the car as a $250 unfinished roller project in the mid 80s and he installed a junkyard 318 and got it driving. Back then this was just a non-running used car, but it was red and he is a Mopar fan. He drove it for about 10 years and decided to give it a refresh. Life happened and in 2020 I took over the project and put it back together and back on the road after 25 years. Like one of those barn find stories but in my dadβs barn. The body has many stories told through dents and scratches, but I like it that way. Having most the original paint also adds some character to it.
In 2022 I decided to give it a modern 5.7 hemi and drivetrain so we (dad and I) could take it on longer drives and decided we would take it on Hot Rod Power Tour 2023. That was when I first found Khaos and they bent my pipes to connect the 5.7 factory manifolds to the dual pipes from the 318. I had more than a few kinks to work out but we went for it. We made 3000 miles from Michigan to Atlanta, GA and 5 states in 5 days and back to Michigan. A few breakdown and roadside fixes but also some great memories. To date we have made 3 power tours and all over Michigan to other shows and many a Sunday drive. Dad is almost always my copilot these days and it is so fun to enjoy it with him. Most recently I upgraded to full headers and 3in exhaust. Once again, Khaos assisted with some custom bends help me get it just right.
