Fred Jackson Memorial 2024 definitely did not disappoint. The track was prepared and locked in from the racing on Friday night. Which made for an on time start just after a little magic calcium disbursement and a weighted truck run in.
First practice got under way and the super speedway consumed it's first victim as Doug Stearly seized his motor. Heard a few new comers say "man that's a fast track". In one of our first year's of this race a hwy patrolman radared us at 101mph on the straight, averaging of the lap time and track distance it computed at 97mph avg.
Something in racing that is forever true is called attrition. Congratulations to Nora Kate Auten on her win in the UAS race. She was surely under motored to compete with the jawa and 450. But at the end of the day the smaller motor didn't twist the motor apart nor burn the tires up to lose grip. Better look out UAS veterans there's another brite new star on the move.
As we get to the Memorial it was still early in the dark hours. The temp had dropped but the glazing moisture didn't cover the track. We saw lap times had fallen in previous classes since qualifying. But for the aircooled 2smokes and some tire gurus our times were still fastest of the day! Simon Seay led the parade around for the 20th running of the Fred Jackson Memorial. Simon rocked the start and carried off into turn¹ with Justin Gilbert not far off his bumper and Sean Jackson in their shadows. Looked like there was a rope attached and after some laps I think I saw Justin reach out from his steering wheel and give a tug pulling himself closer. I gotta say I've never seen a 2 stroke race that the draft may have played a part. But I will step back and mention ATTRITION. Big word. A very long time veteran David Waddell (in his prime 65+yo)that drove for Jackson brothers racing and against them was holding on strong. The video didn't show it but at the break he rolled out of the kart onto the ground and found rest on the dirt track. Starting 8th and finishing 2nd deserves a big Ada boy! We lost a lot of drivers due to attrition motors dying, chains coming off, and tires going away the field got smaller. It became nail biter worthy to watch the last 10 lap shootout between Simon & Justin. Each lap Justin got closer and closer to getting under Simon til he was there and they drag raced down the front stretch under the flag stand, man that had to of been fun. Could almost see the draft wind roll over Justin and help with the push coming off of turn⁴. They both being top competitors weren't backing off going into ¹ and both thinking oh boy what's gonna happen here?!. But as they exit ² it was the low man that prevailed being Justin Gilbert going on to the WIN in the 2024 Fred Jackson Memorial! Congratulations to Gilby and team!🎉🥳
Time to take a break and repair and rebuild for next season. Happy Holidays to all and a Happy New Years!

Here they are racers. 2024 winner and pole awards. Sure will dress up the shop hanging on the wall. Will we be able to put your name on 1 of these checks or maybe all 3? Huge thank you to Blake Lester at Extreme Graphics for another outstanding set of memorable checks for this the 20th yr of the Fred Jackson Memorial. It's almost go time. Had several interested in a 100cc race. Well with the schedule packed not a lot of time to squeeze them in. But what I do have is a weight break and a little bonus.

$100 pole award
$60 entry 100% payback

For the Memorial
$100 pole award
$40 entry with $2000.⁰⁰ purse to win. Being this is the 20year anniversary of the first running of this race. Kinda makes me feel old.
100% payback 2nd through appropriate # of karts in the field.
Rules are open tires
•100cc piston port 300lbs
•100cc reed/Rotary 325lbs
•AIRCOOLED 2STROKE ONLY
Over 100cc up to 150cc 240lbs+1lb per cc claimed.
The bonus to the 100cc is the 100cc farthest up in the field will get $100 if a 100cc wins we will give another $100. So a 100cc winnings would be $2200.

We will be running UAS and the Memorial same day. The track is racing on the 13th if you want to park early.

Pictured is the eagle Fred designed for the race team logo. Also the big group picture was the first Memorial in 2004 held at possum kingdom of mainly the drivers on the front stretch before we slid into our karts. The other group pic is of the 2021 Memorial at Hanging Rock which had some new drivers but also had some original guys that raced against Fred and team at the WKA nationals. They traveled from Pennsylvania Ohio area. This being a 20 year reunion of this race I've heard from Florida, Georgia, SC, NC, Tennessee, West Virginia and Pennsylvania drivers. So far we have a trophy, pole awards and a healthy purse. Looking to pay out top 5. Purse will be shared once I have all the details ironed out.

Hats off to Justin Gilbert and team on their win Bear Creek Raceway Park. With other serieses having 1/4 points and money races at the same time, we had our smallest crew we've had in a while. But hands down we ran a drivers track. Start to finish Justin lead the way to claim the win! Congratulations 🎊
