Goodmorning and happy Tuesday!!
With boating season quickly coming to an end we wanted to give you guys a few reasons why its important to have your boat detailed prior to shrink wrap and storage!
First and foremost, mildew 🦠☣️
Storing your boat improperly and full of lake life over the winter can lead to some pretty aggressive mildew growth those next 6-7 months. When mildew is left unchecked, itll grow at a rapid pace and slowly but surely eat away at the vinyl throughout the boat, along with carpets and other surfaces it can attached itself to. The odor alone from mildew can be quite tough on the nose and good reason to get a detailing.
Secondly, Algae / moss!!!! 🌱🌿
Improper cleaning AND Improper shrink wrapping can and will allow for some wicked algae / moss growth to form on the floor throughout your boat. This is more of an issue for boats, mostly pontoons with non removable carpet flooring present. Moss / algae growth will slowly destroy the carpet fibers and allow for the floor to seperate from the floorboat / hull. Much like mildew, algae / moss growth has a really not awesome odor thatll make your eyes water.
Lastly, The awful smell 👃🤢
Like I've already mentioned above, the smell is HORRIBLE and will really take all the motivation out of you to clean it. The only way to avoid this issue is by detailing it professionally and shrink wrapping it professionally before storage.
We also recommend storing your stuff somewhere indoors if possible, bonus if its temperaturecontrolled. That alone will drastically up your chance of avoiding all these issues in conjuction with a proper cleaning and wrap.
All in all, these along should be good enough reasons to get your boat detailed before you store it!!!!
