Well, it finally happened! We sold our first kayaks! (Despite ourselves) 🛶🎉
And the funny part? Our first kayak purchaser pretty much had to make the sale herself. 😂
We’ve spent much of this season scrambling to get our waterfront pier shop up and running, with most of our attention focused on launching the rental operation before the tail end of the season slipped away.
Meanwhile, we’ve had people try out our kayaks, fall in love with them, and tell us they wanted to buy one. In fact, five people were ready to buy before we’d even gotten around to putting the kayaks up for sale—including a couple visiting all the way from New Mexico (but that’s another story!).
The problem was/is getting ourselves organized enough to actually sell them! 😂
As much as we love designing, building, and bringing new ideas to life, sales and marketing might not be our strongest suit. We haven’t even listed the kayaks for purchase on our website yet! 🤦
Well, this past week, one of those enthusiastic customers apparently decided she’d waited long enough.
She came by, loaded TWO kayaks and all their accompanying equipment into her trunk, started adding up the prices we’d previously discussed, and wrote us a check! 🤯
And just like that, Sheepscot Boating made its first kayak sale!
We’re incredibly grateful—not just for the purchase, but for the enthusiasm and encouragement we’ve received from everyone who’s taken the time to try our kayaks.
It’s a pretty wonderful feeling when someone believes in what you’re offering enough to take matters into their own hands. 🫶
Now, we suppose we’d better get those kayaks listed on the website! 😂
Thank you for helping us reach this little milestone! ❤️ We can’t wait to see photos of our kayaks out exploring the waters around Boston!
