YOUR SILVERADO HAS AN AIR RESTRICTION

There's a restrictive section in the factory air intake system that can limit airflow on Silverado and Sierra trucks.

The good news? You don't have to tune the computer just to benefit from removing the restriction.

I show you where the restriction is, explain why it's there, and talk about what happens when you improve the airflow.

But there's an important difference between getting a benefit and getting the MAXIMUM benefit.

If you really want to take advantage of the improved airflow, that's where tuning the computer comes into the picture.

GM ALIGNMENT KEEPS MOVING?

Getting an alignment doesn't necessarily mean it's going to stay there.

On Big Red, I'm installing alignment locks to help prevent the alignment adjustments from moving. If those adjustments shift even slightly, you can end up with steering problems, poor tracking, and uneven tire wear.

I show how the locks are installed and why this is something GM truck owners should know about.

If your truck drove great immediately after an alignment but later started pulling, wandering, or wearing the tires differently, it's worth checking whether the alignment has actually moved.

How do running board brackets actually support your weight?

I'm installing the new stainless steel running boards on Big Red. I show where the brackets mount, how the running boards attach to them, and explain how those brackets support the load when you step onto the running board.

It's a straightforward installation, but understanding how the brackets and mounting points work can make the job a lot easier.

I purchased these running boards myself. This video is not sponsored.

Why I Chose Stainless Running Boards Instead of Chrome

Big Red needed new running boards, but I didn't want to replace the old ones with another set that would eventually suffer the same fate.

I went with full stainless steel running boards from Amazon. In this unboxing, I take a look at what I actually received, the construction and hardware, and explain why I chose stainless over chrome.

Running boards get hammered by water, road salt, dirt and everything kicked up by the tires. Spending a little more for the right material can make a big difference in how long they last.

Next up: installing them on Big Red and finding out how well they actually fit.

I DIDN'T WEAR PPE β€” IT COST ME MY CAREER

This is a lesson I learned the hard way.

When I was younger and working in the auto body industry, I didn't take PPE seriously enough. After two exposures to professional automotive paint fumes, the consequences eventually forced me out of the industry.

In this video, I share what happened, the mistakes I made, and why I take PPE much more seriously today.

If you work around automotive paint, chemicals, grinding, sanding, welding, or other shop hazards, don't assume you'll be fine because nothing has happened yet.

Use the correct PPE. Use it properly. Know what you're being exposed to.

Learn from my mistake instead of learning this lesson yourself.

DON'T RUIN YOUR FRESH PAINT!

Painting is only part of the job. If you unmask the vehicle incorrectly, you can damage the fresh paint you just worked to apply.

I show how I remove the masking safely and explain where I use blue-line automotive painter's tape to create a clean edge when a defined paint line isn't a problem.

The job isn't finished until the masking comes off clean.

I LEARNED THIS LESSON THE HARD WAY.

When I was young, I didn't take PPE as seriously as I should have. I had two exposures to professional-grade automotive paint fumes, and those mistakes eventually forced me out of the industry.

In this video, I show the PPE, explain how it should be used, and talk about why simply HAVING protective equipment isn't enough. It has to be the right protection for the job, and it has to be used correctly.

I'm sharing what happened to me because this is one lesson you don't want to learn through experience.

Always follow the product SDS, PPE manufacturer's instructions, proper fit requirements, and applicable workplace safety requirements.

My Rocker Panel Paint FAILED β€” Here’s Why

I made a mistake on Big Red, and instead of hiding it, I’m showing you exactly what happened.

The paint on my rocker panels failed and forced me to redo the work. I show what caused the failure, what I should have done differently, and how you can prevent the same problem on your vehicle.

A coating can look great when you're finished and still fail later if the preparation and application underneath aren't right.

Using Car Ramps on ONE SIDE? Do It This Way

Can you safely put only one side of a truck on ramps?

Sometimes you need extra clearance underneath a vehicle in a place where lifting the entire truck doesn't give you the advantage you need.

I show how I use ramps in a non-conventional way by raising one side of a 4x4. I explain proper ramp placement, the dangers you need to understand, and the precautions I take before working underneath.

This setup can be especially useful when removing a fuel tank, replacing a fuel pump, removing a transfer case, or doing other work near the center of the vehicle.

This method requires a 4x4/4WD vehicle as demonstrated. Always use properly rated ramps, work on a solid level surface, chock the wheels, set the parking brake, and make absolutely sure the vehicle is stable before getting underneath.
