This event’s proceeds will help pay for the costs associated with a prosthetic arm for David Angelo.
David was at his home back in March making a repair to the sink in his kitchen that required a weld to be made using his tools which included his blowtorch. Unfortunately in the midst of the process the torch slipped out of his grasp and caused burns unlike many have ever or will ever experience. David had to be immediately life-flighted to West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh where he spent a length of time recovering. Almost right away doctors realized the best option was to amputate his arm just below the elbow. Not many can imagine comprehending this news and coming to the realization that life will continue in a totally different perspective and the challenges that will follow when coming to terms with the loss of a limb. The healing process is difficult, painful and discouraging but David has been steadfast and determined not to let it keep him down. He has been hopeful that he can adapt and improve and has made strides healing. His goal ahead is to get as close to normal as possible and to be able to be a candidate for a prosthetic arm. His plastic surgeon is projecting that within a few months, he should be ready and able to move forward with that process. However, as you can imagine, everything up to this point and over the next several months the process is expensive. Hospital stays, doctors appointments, medication, normal bills, gas, accumulate quickly. David wants to be able to get back to where he can be independent and get himself out from under the mountain of debt this accident has caused.
David grew up racing and competing with dirt bikes and motorcycles and riding continues to be a favorite hobby of his so in keeping with that theme, we decided that a motorcycle dice run would be best suited. In our efforts to help him we decided to host this fundraising event. Friends, family and contributors will gather early to support and participate in a motorcycle dice run followed by a meal, entertainment, and benefit where donated gifts will be auctioned off and raffles will be held.
