We have reached the month of June and let’s pray that Mother Nature is nicer this month. We have two special races this month, USAC MRA Non-Wing Sprints on June 13 and on June 27 the Finish Strong Mike Tanner Memorial for the Hobby Stocks.

The June 27th annual Mike Tanner Memorial race benefits the Finish Strong Foundation in support of young athletes so they can continue the sports they love when their families are struggling financially specifically because of illness, injury, death, or other unexpected traumatic event.

Mike Tanner, racer, competitor, teacher, mentor, coach, and sponsor, gone way too early at 40 years old. Out of his passing the Finish Strong Foundation was established. Each year the family selects a class to support for this special race. This is an opportunity for the Hobby Stock class to earn extra money and yet at the same time for the racing family to give back to the community through support for the Finish Strong Foundation.

At I-35 Speedway our intent is not to legislate out a competitor but instead to find a way to make cars competitive, so everyone may come and have fun. We welcome these occasional drivers who are not competing for points but instead want to try out another racetrack or compete in a special sponsored race such as the Mike Tanner Memorial. As we are in transition from various Hobby Stock, Factory Stock, Pure Stock rules the following rules will apply for the Mike Tanner Memorial race.

Lakeside Pure Stocks following their rules. In lieu of following the Lakeside gear rule (5.00/5.14.,5.29) Lakeside Pure Stocks must compete with an MSD with a maximum 6200 restrictor chip.

Rod End Supply Night at the Races delivered another exciting evening of competition at I-35 Speedway this past Saturday night, as 96 cars across 8 classes brought their best, and fans packed the grandstands as drivers battled for every inch of the racetrack across all classes. We welcomed the MLS Sprint Cars back to I-35 tonight as they put on some excitement of their own.

The E-Mods opened up the evening with Chris Dishong finding Molle Auto Victory Lane for the 4th time this season after an impressive performance. Garrett Stonum finished second, Johnny Eads crossed the line in third, James Silkwood finished fourth, and Brett Wildeman rounded out the top five.

The USRA Tuners feature delivered plenty of action from the drop of the green flag. A new face this season at I-35 Speedway, Corey Howell raced his way to the feature victory after a strong performance throughout the night. James Carter crossed the line in second, Jeremy Sims claimed third. Samuel Moore finished fourth and Brett Holman completed the top five.

In the USRA Hobby Stocks, Blake Peeler continued his strong 2026 racing season, by driving to back-to-back feature wins. Shawn Wirtz followed in second, Jim Masoner Jr. finished third, Brad Chumbly came home fourth, and Tyler Brown rounded out the top five.

In the USRA B-Mod feature, Michael Taylor III found himself in the right place at the right time to take home the feature win. Nathan Hampton finished second while Colby Burge secured third. John Ross came home fourth and Dalton Strohl in the top five.

USRA Stock Car competition saw Austin Kaplan score his second feature win after a strong run against a very talented field. Chris Dishong added another strong finish in second while Shayne Bailey finished third. Gerald Wahwahsuck crossed the line fourth and Tyler Cadwalader rounded out the top five.

Houston Johnson goes back-to-back in USRA Modified features, snagging his 4th feature win of the 2026 racing season. Ben Nading finished in 2nd, Brad Johnson in 3rd, Steven Glenn 4th and Mark Dotson in 5th.

Makayla Myers led the final lap in the Beginner Tuners and Stanley Kreisel took the checkers in the Midwest Lightning Sprints.

Thank you to all of the drivers, crews, officials, safety personnel, and race fans who continue to make Saturday nights at I-35 Speedway such a special experience.I hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend, and we look forward to another great Saturday night of racing action next weekend!
