The clocks fell back this weekend. That means more of your towing is about to happen in the dark, and your trailer lights are how the driver behind you knows what you're about to do.

Here's a quick check that takes two minutes. Hook up, turn the truck on, and have a helper stand behind the trailer while you work through:
1. Running lights
2. Brake lights
3. Left and right turn signals
4. Clearance and marker lights on the front and sides

If one light is out, it may just be a bulb. If a light flickers, goes dim when you hit the brakes, or several go out at once, the bulb usually isn't the problem. Check these first:
- The ground wire. A loose or rusty ground causes most "crazy lights" problems.
- The plug. Corroded pins on the trailer plug or the truck socket. Clean them with a small wire brush and add a little dielectric grease.
- The wiring under the trailer. Look for spots where it's rubbed through or pinched.

While you're back there, test your breakaway battery too.

Got a big job coming up? This 2026 Maxx-D 7x16 dump with a telescoping lift is sitting at our Thomasville lot.

It's rated at 16,000 lb GVWR with 9,400 lb of payload on twin 8K electric brake axles. A telescoping cylinder does the lifting, so it's smoother on the frame. The KTI pump lives in a toolbox on the I-beam tongue, and the battery has a NOCO onboard charger.
