Welcome to my new page. My son and I are the proud owners of this once-competitive ITS (Improved Touring Sedan) racecar.
In fact, it was the SCCA ITS Championship car in BOTH 1991 and 1992 in CalClub, Southern California's main SCCA Region.
As much as I would like to say that it looks like the above photo, such is not the case. Indeed, its' life has been rough for the past 23 years!
If you look at the photos pages you will see where it is now. we Have a LOT of work to do.
Our goal was to bring it back to its' former glory as a competitive racecar and the two of us would race it as a father-son team in the Vintage Racing venues here in Southern California. Namely, VARA and SVRA-West (formerly HSR-West).
Due to health reasons (mine, not my son's) our plans have been interrupted and our funds have dwindled to pay doctor bills (getting old sucks!).
So we are reaching out to the Toyota fans and indeed to all of you racing fans out there for Help.
Our concept is simple: We will create an account that you can contribute to in order to help us achieve our goal. In return, everyone that contributes at least $150.00 will get their name put on the car as a "sponsor" to show that you helped bring this car back to life.
And of course any parts donations are also welcomed, as we will need a variety of replacement items such a seats, belts, wheels and tires, fire system, etc., to complete the restoration.
I have been racing since the early 70's and it has always been my dream to race with my son before I go to the "great racetrack in the sky" (I was almost there last year but my wonderful girlfriend Troi and the EMT's kept that from happening!).
This car was going to be our way of making that father-son racing team dream come true and indeed with your help we can still make it happen.
So stay tuned for additional information to be posted relative to the way you can contribute.
Of course everyone that does contribute is cordially invited to attend not only the 1st race but any race you want to come to when we do run the car.
The VARA ands SVRA-West events are a hoot and you are allowed to walk the paddock, talk to the drivers and see some truly gorgeous and rare machinery. As well as seeing all of the cars take to the track!
