Y’all know what to do, reach out to us…

Year Six, let's do this!!!!! Our goal is simple: to give as many Clinton County students as possible enough supplies so they can start the school year. A pack of Crayolas here, a pack of paper there, many small donations equal one large one.

We see the Akebonos we install lasting 100,000 miles easy. The Ching Chong’s are lucky to last 40,000. The “lifetime” warranty on those cheap pads isn’t for your benefit, it’s to keep you coming back for more garbage.

Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company and apparently a man who has never met a new Bronco he felt comfortable around, sat down with the Detroit Free Press this week to clarify that Ford is absolutely, totally, one hundred percent in favor of your right to repair your vehicle, just not by you, not at home, not without specialty tools, and ideally not anywhere that isn't a Ford dealership.

Farley noted that while he has no problem wrenching on a 1973 Bronco, a modern one is simply too complex and dangerous for civilian hands. Farley called it a safety issue. Your wallet is calling it something else entirely, but we're just here to report the news.

As oil supplies get tighter, the quality of your engine oil is just as important as ever. Most newer cars can go 10k on a service, if a high quality lubricant is used and other needed services are followed. It’s time to trade a little convenience for proper maintenance, we had 3 cars come in last week, all for noises, all been maintained at a “quick lube”. 2 of the 3 just needed a quality service, the third went too far. Don’t be the third, new cars cost more than an oil change.

“Some estimates suggest that the supply of available lubricants market-wide will be down upward of 40% in the coming months. That means people will be looking for alternatives to their existing brands, and we are doing everything possible…”

Here we go again folks! Many small donations equal one large donation. Reach out to us and we can let you know what we need. It’s a simple as grabbing a box of pencils when you do your grocery shopping, or a pack of loose leaf paper. We are following up on last year’s set up and are shooting for quality, and direct contact with the ones in need. Volunteers are also needed for the day of the event. Shoot us a pm, text, or just stop by and ask what you can do.

Crayons are crayons, right?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Sure, the name brand costs more. In a time where gas prices are high, utilities keep climbing, and everybody is trying to “nickel” pinch now that they took our pennies away, I completely understand why people grab the cheaper option. Most families are doing what they have to do just to get by.

But when it comes to crayons, there’s a bigger picture sometimes.

For starters, the name brand crayons are made one state over, right here in the USA. The cheaper versions are usually made in the PRC. That matters to some of us.

Then there’s the quality. Anybody who has used crayons before knows the cheap PRC versions break easier, wear down faster, and just don’t color the same. Kids notice that stuff immediately.

And honestly, that leads to the biggest reason of all.

Kids can be mean sometimes. They learn that from adults. Some kids get picked on for wearing off brand shoes, having stained clothes, or bringing “dollar store” school supplies. It shouldn’t happen, but it does.

So when you step back and look at the whole picture, maybe that extra dollar for the better crayons is worth it sometimes.

Not because a child needs “luxury” crayons, but because every kid deserves to walk into school feeling just as confident as the kid sitting next to them.
